Friday flip-offs first edition

Gigi over at Kludgy Mom has a whole lot of website going on. Fun, creative, nurturing, and talented, Gigi has a place where moms feel comfortable dropping in, dropping out, meeting like-minded bloggers and sharing ideas.

But not all is sunshine and gumdrops at the site, perhaps the kludgy part of the name hinting at a darker, unhappier side of motherhood. In that vein, Gigi started a bloghop called Friday Flip-Offs, the title a tad more sinister than actual posts. At first, I liked the idea of joining a cluster of rants, but then chickened out, figuring I could rant at my own Carnival of Rants.

But then I saw Gigi's flip-offs again and decided this time around I really would give it a whirl. Besides, I promised I would do it and a good Do Bee never goes back on a promise.

Social Parade Follower Friday will win friends and influence people

Last week, I joined Social Parade Follower Friday, a friendly blog-hop created at Smart and Trendy Moms for bloggers who want to link, find new blogs, and develop new friendships.

Smart and Trendy Moms

I'm sorry to say that I only had time to visit the first five bloggers (my computer is so slow). They were lovely, really, leaving comments and joining my communities after I had visited their blogs and done likewise.

There was a lot of "I'll scratch your back, you scratch mine" going on with the hop, which is fine for the first five bloggers. After that, it all became a big fuzzy blur.

My fellow blog-hoppers are nice and everything, but maybe I'm not into sites whose sole purpose in life is giving away stuff to get more followers. Nothing personal. That shouldn't diminish the awesome blogs which actually do have something to say and there were a few. I'm hoping to find more this second time around.

Unfortunately, I am not as well-positioned on the list as I would like for this second parade. So why, you may ask, if I am about to become #124 on this week's blog-hop (maybe even farther down on the list by the time this posts), do I continue to stick with the program? I mean, who in their right mind what sweet and altruistic person is going to take pity on a blog that far down the list?

I'd be plenty surprised if there are any. But, hey, a gal's gotta dream.

It's a social parade!

The new blog is starting to look less like an after party at Speidi's and more like an up and coming intraweb. Yay. What's my secret? Exhaustive blog surfing, commenting, linking, and generally making a nuisance of myself. It doesn't get any more basic than that.

Smart and Trendy Moms

Considering the amount of time I've spent doing all this today, accidentally running across a blog-hop for smart and trendy Moms hardly comes as a surprise. Yes, I know it's only Thursday night and Social Parade Followers Friday is supposed to take place tomorrow. So what? I feel like I stumbled upon a backstage pass or opened a candy bar with a golden ticket. The last time I happened upon a good looking blog-hop, it was closed. This time, I'm going for the gusto.
